Biomass Wood Pellet

Wood pellets are mainly produced from the leftover materials from sawmilling, where logs are turned into lumber and other high-value wood products. Increasingly, residuals from forest harvesting and low-quality logs, once left as waste, are also used as raw materials for wood pellets. By converting fiber that was once burned or discarded, into wood pellets, the industry is reducing waste and creating valuable, low-carbon biofuel.

To produce wood pellets, manufacturers remove moisture from the incoming wood fiber, grind it into dust, and compress the dust into small cylinders. Heat is applied during this process, causing lignin—a natural polymer in wood—to act as a glue, binding the compressed particles together. The final product is dry, highly compressed, and high in energy value, making it easy to handle and transport efficiently over long distances. 

Wood pellets are acknowledged by scientists and global agencies as a biofuel offering climate benefits compared to fossil fuels. The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the foremost authority on climate change, acknowledges biomass's significant potential for greenhouse gas mitigation compared to fossil energy, provided sustainable development and efficient use. 

The wood pellets’ financial benefits are important to note: You can cut your fuel costs in half compared to natural gas or fossil fuels. The highly efficient heating systems made specifically for this solid fuel are a significant element in how cost-effective wood pellet heating is. More than 90% of the energy in the fuel is transformed into useful heat by wood pellet direct cobustion and pellet burners. The main factor that makes using wood pellets so cost-effective is the combination of cheap fuel costs and good heating systems.
